Our responsibility to our communities,
local and global, is a core belief
Our Approach
Fiera Capital and Fiera Private Credit are committed to ensuring that environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations are fully integrated into our investment processes from sourcing, due diligence and risk assessment, decision making and post-investment portfolio management.
We believe that businesses that effectively manage ESG factors have superior long-term prospects and are more likely to create sustainable long-term value than those that do not.
Incorporating assessment of ESG management in the due diligence on prospective borrowers assists in evaluating the credit worthiness of the business and can materially reduce our risk. Evaluating ESG compliance is an important consideration in determining whether an investment is viable and attractive.
We lend to various sustainable development goals, including good health and well-being (financing nursing homes), sustainable cities and communities (real estate construction, lending to affordable housing), decent work and economic growth (lending to businesses).
We represent investors who are concerned, as we are, about the implementation of good ESG practices.
Certifications and Signatories
Fiera Capital Corporation supports and contributes to several industry initiatives that promote actionable ESG and DE&I practices.
1 Fiera Capital Corporation is a signatory of the Principals for Responsible Investment with an A+ score in Strategy and Governance (2019 Assessment). The PRI is independent. It encourages investors to use responsible investment to enhance returns and better manage risks, but does not operate for its own profit; it engages with global policy makers but is not associated with any government; it is supported by, but not part of, the United Nations. The six principles are voluntary and aspirational. PRI currently has roughly 7,000 signatories. Fiera Capital is a signatory and pays an annual fee to be a signatory. It is a requirement as a signatory to participate in their annual survey. This is not an award, but a tool to benchmark asset managers and owners against other signatories and track commitments over time.
